Cap is typically yellow with a brownish center; average cap size is 2-5 inches but can be larger; big mushroom. Gills bright yellow. Stem white, often with yellow tones. These collections were found growing with Scots and white pine trees. |
Bright yellow gills are attached to the stem very slightly by a notch. The tiny white threads (mycelia) at the base are responsible for producing this mushroom. |
