Oudemansiella furfuracea |
The "root" of this mushroom can be as long as the stem. Current name Oudemansiella furfuracea, formerly known as Hymenopellis furfuracea and Xerula furfuracea. Here is what DNA analyses has revealed about this and other species of this group of Indiana fungi: "Working list of Oudemansiella/Hymenopellis/Xerula. Five species based on 40 sequenced collections. Notably off the list is O./H./X. megalospora and sinapicolor. I have collections I believe are sinapicolor, but no sequences. Hymenopellis "sp-IN01" 2 Hymenopellis rugosoceps 2 Oudemansiella furfuracea 11 Oudemansiella incognita 7 Oudemansiella limonispora 21 Megalospora and limonispora have VERY close DNA sequences, so it is possible some may be separated out with additional DNA regions. Sinapicolor and rugosoceps may be the same species based on ITS DNA results?" Steve Russell, Purdue. April 2020; from "Indiana Mushrooms" Facebook group. See MycoMap.Com |
